International need-based financial aid

Sewanee has the ability to distribute over $500,000 in need-based aid to international students each year. Along with completed application materials, applicants must submit the following documents by their admission deadline. The grants awarded through this program range from $5,000 up to full tuition, room, board, and fees. The University does not cover any expenses beyond our cost of attendance. We do not accept either financial documents or the international grant essay over email or fax. Applicants must upload these documents using their Applicant Status Page. Applicants will receive their login credentials once they submit the Common Application.

Review Process
  • All international students educated outside of the U.S. will be reviewed by the International Enrollment Coordinator, Tim Neil.
  • All international students educated inside of the U.S. will be reviewed first by their territory admission counselor and then onto the International Enrollment Coordinator.
  • International students interested in transfer admission should review transfer information.
Skype appointments

Part of our holistic process is getting to know the student where they are, which is why we offer invitation-only Skype appointments with international applicants that have completed their application and are deemed competitive in our applicant pool. If a student is invited for a Skype appointment, they will be conducted by the International Enrollment Coordinator and are required.

Student support

At Sewanee, international students find support, clubs and activities, and services through the Office of Global Citizenship. They work to assure that our international students have the resources they need. In addition to language houses, a variety of residence halls on campus, students have the opportunity of requesting a friendship family to assist in adjusting to American culture in a unique way by fostering relationships between students and local families.

Additional Information

Because application processes differ so greatly from school to school and country to country, we recommend that international students review the information on EduPass and other online resources like Education USA, Study in the States, HALI Access, and Sewanee's Office of Global Citizenship

Students who are still under eighteen years of age by Aug 1, 2019 will need to have a parent sign and return a Medical Release form and should have an adult in the U.S. appointed as a Power of Attorney until the student reaches the age of eighteen.
